Strengthening the Diversity and Role of Patient and Family Advisory Councils: Opportunities for Action

This resource highlights six key areas to help hospitals strengthen PFAC diversity and partner with
patient and family advisors in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. Guidance in the resource is
based on learnings from a project that IPFCC conducted in collaboration with Cincinnati Children’s
Hospital Medical Center to identify best practices for: (1) developing, supporting, and sustaining diverse
and inclusive partnerships with patients and families and (2) partnering with patient and family advisors
in DEI work.
